Potato
On Polish market there is constant lack of clean, packed potatoes with enclosed information about variety of potatoes and what you can prepare from them. All these requirements fulfill products of AWEX company. On every wrapping there is detailed description of product.
In Poland there are 97 varieties immune to illness and meeting taste criteria changes, just some them tests very well. Classifying potatoes among others a taste, a shape and a colour of the pulp were being taken into consideration.
TASTE - the Taste of every variety largely depends on the kind of the soil, fertilizing and climatic conditions.
SHAPE – the shape of tubers should be regular, without distortions and deep eyes making hard to peel.
PULP - here we divide potatoes into three groups depending on contents of starch:
- I - salad hard type - concise after cooking, easy to cut into cubes. This kind wonderfully fit to preparing salads, baking, spit-roasted dishes.
- II - intermediate type - most popular with versatile applying; these are potatoes which after cooking have the average hard structure, the delicate or more expressive taste, perfect to prepare jacket potatoes, grilling, baking in salt.
- III - floury type - spilling after cooking, these are potatoes which after cooking are dry and loose, excellent for puree and creams, for preparing potato dumpling, cooked in one pot dishes and thick potato soups.
COLOUR OF PULP - it has no influence on the nutritional value of the potato but it has colossal influence on the appearance (from snow-white to dark-yellow). In this category we can distinguish white, yellow and cream-colored, white and cream-colored groups of potatoes.
Potatoes are packed in 1,2.5 , 5, 10, 15, 25 kg.
Onion
Consumers look for onion with mild taste to the consumption on fresh, to salads as well as onion with more or less pungency for spices. Suitable for drying are white pulp varieties, not darkening after drying off and with pungent taste, and varieties of white onions, without covering with greenery and with the very mild taste are fit for conserving. For long-lasting keeping variants are characterized by a big hardness of onions, with strong and fat scales, without the tendency of decaying.
Onions are packed in 1, 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 25 kg.
